ParticipantI have a reoccurring problem with the overheat stat going open circuit. It lasts about 3 months then fails.
I have explained to the customer about cleaning the lint filter after every use and cleaning the condenser unit regularly. I have also advised on not overloading.
I referred to the Hotpoint Technical bulletin and checked the heater goes off when the machine reverses and the direction of the machine is correct.Does anyone have any other suggestions how I can resolve this problem,
Thanks,
Keith.

You could make sure that they are not opening the door before the cycle ends to ‘check’ on the clothes. You must stress the importance of the ‘cool tumble’ at the end of the cycle.
With the push-push door, I have had a couple where the children are knocking the dryer off by leaning on or pushing the door.

Seems to be me that customer may not be cleaning either lint filter & condenser cassette, if ther isn’t enough airflow through system it will overheat & blow high level ‘stat, & if door is opened before cooling commences same will happen.. These are always blowing & i keep a good stock of these & relays in my van at all times..

I have covered the possibilities regarding airflow through the machine.
I some Washer/Dryers trip the dryer heat if the cycle is stopped before the cooling cycle has finished but wasn’t aware this was a problem on these machines. I had contemplated it as I had run out of other ideas and the customer did admit she had a young daughter who liked to open the door before it had finished.
It looks like your comments confirm my suspicions.
Thanks for the help.

Qualtex (Part No TOC26) is an auto-resetting TOC that could be the best solution to those dryers that are abused in this way by their owners or their children or even where lots of individuals are using the one machine in this way 💡

Thanks for the part number. I have told the customer not to open the door mid-cycle. If she does and it goes again I’ll give the Qualtex alternative a go.
