    Hi,

I just bought a new drive belt for a Blomberg TL1000AWE/E top-loading washing machine through CES, who very kindly & promptly told me I needed part #1603287 (actually a HotPoint belt) and dispatched it very quicky.. Thanks!

The belt was reasonably tight (but uneventful) to fit and seemed fine.

However, during the first wash, the belt came off and I had to re-fit it. This time I left the side of the machine off and watched what happened.

Very quickly, the belt rides up onto the rear lip of the large pressed sheet-metal pulley on the drum. It stays this way for a while and then (mostly during the max-speed spin stages) falls off the back of the large drum pulley.

This seems bizarre to me, as the front edge of the drum pulley is rounded, where the back edge has a raised lip. So it would seem more likely that the belt would come off the front edge, rather than ride up over the rear lip and then fully off the pulley…

Does this sound like a problem with the machine (drum or motor pulley) or the new belt?

    Thanks in advance,

Belts will always ride on the high side of a pulley. can you check that the drum pulley is bolted on tight that there is no wobble in relation to the shaft and that the motor bolts are secure.

    Del & all,

The drum pulley bolt is tight and it seemed to run smoothly, with no wobble at hand-speed and when watching mid-cycle. The drum bearings are smooth and there is no play.

I say “seemed to run smoothly” beacuse today it threw it’s belt again and this time the belt got all snarled up behind the pressed steel drum pulley, munching the belt and bending the drum pulley.

Where can I get a new pulley? See pics in this thread for pulley configuration.

    Cheers,

    ChrisB

Contact spares@ukwhitegoods.co.uk for the spares. I would seriously recommend getting the triangular pulley insert as well; this wears microscopically and will cause the exact symptons you have described.

    Pulley – 55X2984 at £31.43
    Triangular insert – 55X7415 at £13.59

Both in stock in France but not the UK so 14 days as a rough lead time I’m afraid 🙁

One thing that did cross my mind, the motor hasn’t been removed and refitted the wrong side of the brackets by any chance has it ? I only thought of this as I did it myself once many years ago 🙄

    Dave.
