ParticipantHi, my Blomberg 1501AAA has motor problem:
Fault is that motor onlys spin briefly for couple seconds both wash and spin phases of cycle. With no load is clear that running fast rather than expected tumble speed.
Consistent with this, the control board shows damage around what looks to be the motor speed feedback circuit : couple of tracks lifted, a resistor burnt out and clamp-diode thing gone to short circuit. Possibly other capacitor damaged. All of this immediately where signal arrives from motor.
The motor (and machine inside) looks pretty clean, with brushes only part worn – but there was carbon deposit on the cables.I am guessing the motor drive cables maybe arc’d to the low power sense cables and caused the damage back on the control board.
Questions are:
Is diagnosis reasonable? Is this common fault? If so, is the sensor in the motor a simple coil or some silicon device?
(there are only two wires to sense).
I ask because dont really want to replace the PCB only to find motor also faulty. Also would anyone be able to tell me what values the resistors are in that area of the board (damage leaves unreadable). Details can be supplied – but board is in machine at mo and I doubt anyone would have that info.
It looks like the board is otherwise fine – and it goes through all the normal operations – so am guessing the clamp diode did its work.
Any help/input much appreciated.
Thanks to contributors on this board.

It does sound as though the speed control module needs replacing from your description of the fault. problem is, is this the cause or a symptom.
It can get expensive when your guessing. How old is the appliance ?Del

Machine is at least 3 years old – possibly 5 – not sure, sorry.
But certainly old enough that would replace rather than do too much replacing of bits. There is no speed control module as such as I see it (unless this is the bit on the end of motor). So it would be the entire control PCB with the sequence switches.
I guess am mainly asking those with experience if it is known for high voltage to arc across motor cables/connector in to low-voltage sense cables. This would give me confidence that cause rectified now that have cleaned up.
Thanks for quick response.
