ParticipantHi – first visit to this forum… I have a problem with my Bosch SMI 20 which I’m hoping to solve quickly/cheaply 🙂 . The DW has run flawlessly for 9 years so I’m not at all familiar with the workings/architecture. However, with reasonable instructions I’m generally not bad on home repairs…
Came down this morning to find it had stopped halfway through the rinse cycle. Pilot light off, apparently dead. I unplugged, checked the fuse and power supply, then plugged it in again. Pilot light came on but no action. There was plenty of water in the base of the machine as well. I removed/cleaned/replaced the outlet filters. Then, I moved it to the start of the pre-rinse program. This time it was happy to drain the appliance, but at the point where it would normally start taking in water it stopped running. There’s a faint hum coming from it, but no further activity.
Any tips greatly appreciated. It’s been plumbed into the supply for about three years, and I think previously it was connected for six. Therefore, I’m a bit skeptical about the inlet filter being blocked. More likely it’s a problem with the drainage?
Many thanks,

Gareth,
Probably the lower base plate is flooded as a result of an internal leak, it would need draining and the source found and fixing/replacing. (several components need checking)
:plug: REMOVE POWER SUPPLY(UN-PLUG) BEFORE REMOVING ANY PANELS FIRST :zap:
Due to the difficulties and complexities of your machine to access these I recommend calling in an expert. For a local independent try our Repairs@

Thanks Martin. I just ran the pre-rinse programme again and now it’s working. 😕

My Bosch SG5312 has developed a similar fault (but no rodents involved).
started the cycle yesterday and within 10minutes it stopped, saltwater light came on and a little dot appears in the display. Tried resetting it but with no success, water was still left in the bottom. When I powered cycled the unit I heard noises from the back of the dishwasher like it was trying to take in more water. Thats as far as I got…will investigate more tonight to see if I can drill down on a fix. Any input from others is appreciated.

Garethh & DOBES are talking about the same sort of problem BUT 2 totally differing machines. 😕
So please let’s not get confused here.
i.e Symptoms = the same but the solution = very different :lesson:

Had a better look at my SG5312, took off the side panels and saw that the clear pastic intestine matrix thing (theres probably a technical word for it) was full of gunk! Took it off, cleaned it out as best I could and drained some of the residual water left in the bottom of the machine by tipping it on one end. Connected the plastic thing back onto the hoses and powered the machine back up. The machine started filling for about 10secs then stopped, the dot on the front panel was lit very dimly. After resetting the machine it rstarted trying to refil (or thats what it sounded like as the connecting water supply hose was twanging backwards and forwards like it was trying to push or suck air into the machine withou any luck. Any ideas out ther on what to do next?

A single red dot in the display usually indicates failure of the electronic control panel, best to have it checked by an engineer, try repairs@ over to the left of this page
Control panels are £83.00 + vat an expensive item if you make a mistake ❗

If this is the control Panel…then replacing it will mean its the third one I have had for the same machine as I had to have it replaced some 2years ago. The machine is 5years old.
Where should I look to buy this part? I have lost contact with the previous service Engineer I used.
