I’m trying to work out if our dryer is too hot. On low heat, the glass inside the door is burn your hand hot, once the dryer stops and we managed to shrink some of my sons clothes. It is a brand new dryer and we have to wait a week for an engineer to tell us if there is a problem or not.

We did have another machine of the same model for three weeks and did lots of drying but didn’t notice these problems. The thermostat on that dryer malfunctioned so this is the replacement.

Clearly a serious fault has developed with your machine and I would advise you not to use it until the Hotpoint engineer has a least checked it out 🙁

The engineer came out and agreed there was a problem that he didn’t feel was worth an attempt at fixing.

We received our new washing machine last week, it appears to have the same problem. The engineer is coming out today. We are now onto our third washer dryer, it seems they can’t get the technology right on their dryers. In the meantime our washing is piling up.

In all fairness to Hotpoint soupy you have to agree they are trying to help you out of this problem and their legal obligations have been fulfilled…..Great!

I personally would now take it just one little step further by suggesting you ask the retailer who supplied it you in the first place, for your money back. 😉

Or (to save upsetting them and loosing your business as it wasnt their fault after all) ask them to supply a better brand of machine and that you are willing to stump up the difference?

Well worth a go and the best way out of your washday blues I reckon

N.B Once the guarantee expires on your Hotpoint you are on your own! 😉

Engineer came out today, reckons there’s nothing wrong with this one. interesting that between this one and the old one they have changed the heating thingy on the dryer to a completely different part/system hmmmm.

Anyway on low heat the door has ‘hot points’ on it that would burn my young toddlers hands should he touch it for more than a second, washing comes out scorching.
Have done a straw pole around washer dryer owners and everyone seem to agree low heat should be luke warm.

Will definitely take your advice – however have to say the retailer were no help in getting our first one replaced, hotpoint suppled an authorisation code and everything and retailer didn’t want to know. Hotpoint were brilliant at sorting it out and I have dealt direct with them since. This all started in July so better get a shufty on as that warranty is ticking away.

If this is a combination washer dryer, shouldn’t there be a plastic outer shield on the door to prevent you actually touching the glass at all? That was the Hotpoint way for many years.
