    Hi All

I have a 4 year old DWF64SS dishwasher that has stopped going through the wash cycle. We have to manually move it through every click, so I guess the program thingy is broken. There’s no lights visible except the salt and rinse-aid ones, and no LEDs to show an error code. The program knob pops out and we can move it around, but that’s it as far as interaction is concerned.

Am I right in concluding that the program knob mechanism needs changing? If so, can I do it myself (I’m fairly technical anyway, but computers not dishwashers)? If not, how much does a replacement cost, and is it worth repairing or just getting a new dishwasher (which we can’t really afford, but if it’s more economical to do, we will)? I’m in Worthing, Sussex so if anyone knows a reputable repairer, maybe they could let me know…

    Thanks for any help!

    Dave

It does all point to the timer to be honest Dave but at £115 it’s worth being certain 😉

Check Repairs@ for an engineer would be my recommendation, you’ll also get a guarantee on the repair this way as well 🙂

    Dave

    Thanks for the info.

I tried repairs@ but there isn’t a service engineer in my area. Never mind, I’ll use Smeg’s own repairers, Servevast Ltd, unless anyone has any better ideas.

Incidentally, you didn’t mention about self-fitting… is it possible?

    Cheers

Yes, it’s possible but I was more concerned about the diagnosis.

Once fitted you won’t be able to return it and if it doesn’t solve the problem it’s an expensive mistake 😯

Thanks very much for that, looks like I’ll be phoning for a repair:)

    Cheers
