Participant18 mth old TV 630 – out of full warranty but still covered for parts… with an £85 callout chatge!!! As a result, am trying to DIY repair. Symptoms: off/on switch works if held in with a finger but switches off when pressure taken off the switch. Thinking it was a switch fault, I have replaced it but to no avail. I’ve checked that the timer turns off/on the power and that seems OK. Is there a capacitor or some other easy fix that could be causing this problem. I’d hate to throw away a good machine for the sake of a £10 part – but that’s what Hoover’s callout charges would dictate.
PS – I am a DIYer but did remember to unplug before tampering 😈 Any help would be greatly appreciated before the Winter if possible 😀

The on/off switch is not an on/off switch, it is a start button which activates a small electronic board in the console panel. This will be what has failed.

is what you want.

😀
Penguin,
Thanks for your help & advice. The spare part worked a treat (even if I struggled to work out how to get the old one out).
I thoroughly recommend this site to any other DIY fixers out there!
My wife is now fully ready for the winter.

Hi
I seem to have the same problem. Is this easy to fix and how do you access the control panel please?
Thanks
