ParticipantBosch 4002/13 FD 7905. Inlet valve bangs on/off several times during start of cycle. After filling, rest of cycle all OK. Worse at night when water pressure higher. Checked inlet filters on inlet pipe and on machine – clear. Removed/inspected inlet valve – ok. Reckon its not the valve but the sensors. Watched side chamber during start up: water hurtles around and seems to fill OK for a couple of mins. Then a few bubbles rise from the base and the inlet valve opens for a short time again. What’s going on?

Hi
Full Enr number please
It sounds to me as if your water pressure is to high and causes water level switch to switch on and off try lowering water pressure to machine.

Many thanks washman for lightning quick response.
ENR is SGS4002GB/13 other number 19904290216427320331. Water pressure day is 3.5bar, goes to 4.5 night but user instructions say 0.5-10bar.
No problems with valve noise till recently so something changed last few weeks. Should I try partly closing stopcock/ball valve to reduce pressure? There is already a red tapered filter fitted in the inlet hose (stopcock end). Is this a restrictor as well?.September 18, 2005 at 2:20 pm #147581superfix

Possibly a blocked sump hose I reckon.
Will then fill and bouce off overfill s/w.
:plug: pull plug before investigating

Yes indeed, a blockage in the inlet to the sump is the likely problem and if you are the least bit unsure how to proceed, I recommend calling out a local engineer. Try our

to see if there’s is one in your area 😉September 19, 2005 at 8:22 am #147583windy1

Thanks Guys – but before committing myself to a call out, I would like to have a closer looksee. If the hose is transparent I can get some feel for how bad.
Any hints please on access to inspect the sump ? Presume through the front kickplate area?

Checked that hose and it was clear. Could it be a sticking level sensor? – maybe that plastic chamber with the microswitch – any suggestions?

If that hose is clear and the machine fills normally (the NORMAL being that as it fills the circulatiog pump operates, filling continues until the small white button operates the microswitch to turn off the inlet valve).
If all that happens OK? Then I venture to suggest that your water pressure is a little too high, needs the stop-cock turning down somewhat AND more importantly to check your copper pipe fixings to their source as they possibly not secured properly to create the annoying banging noises in the first place 💡

This model doesn’t have a metering tank though
