ParticipantHi,
My dishwasher is leaking from the where the water softener connects to the salt solution reservoir. There are two rubber grommets and it is leaking from the right hand side one. Can I get these grommets as spare parts?. It looks like the ring around the water softener adjuster on the inside of the dishwasher should unscrew so that the softener water container can be removed from the casing but it wont budge.Am I right in thinking this unscrews or is there another way to remover the softener water container?Any help appreciated.

They appear to be simple “O” rings ?
MFI want £4.54 each for them 😯
But I think you should be able to pick them up for a few pence from a DIY store, take one of the old one’s as a pattern.

The ring on the inside does have to be unscrewed to get access. It can be very tight and hard to budge, though.
The grommets are unlikely to need replacing. You’ll probably find that the water softener is gunked up. A good clean and careful refitting might be the answer.
There are also a couple of long black screws holding the matrix in place near the bottom.
If you would rather call in a pro try Repairs@

Thanks guys,
I have now managed to get the softener unit off and the o-rings
out. It looks as though one of them has shrunk over time as when
I swapped them around the other side leaked so I will be off to MFI
today to get a couple of replacements.regards

I had the exact same problem with my Diplomat ADP 8242. I had the error code that a leak had been detected but thought it was just the playing up so ran through the reset procedure but it happened again. Thought I better check underneath and saw a load of water gushing out!
Managed to pull the dishwasher out and, after some research on this site, took the sides off to located the water softener. I ran a soak wash and saw where the leak was coming from. http://img199.imageshack.us/img199/7177/diplomatadp8242.jpg
To get the matrix (think that’s what it’s called!) off you have to undo the ring on the inside of the washer that has the blue level sector in it. This was a MISSION to get off! It wouldn’t budge no matter how hard I tried with a pretty hefty wrench!
I ended up tightening it to loosen it! Sounds ridiculous but it’s the only way it worked! Anyway, once that was off the rest was easy apart from finding a replacement ‘o’ ring. I had to use a kind of PTFE putty recommended by the guy in B&Q that has blocked all leakages.I hope this helps someone else save a fortune on call outs or even a new washer!
