Is he fitting the right pump – should have thermal cut-out in windings, also check door seal for splits / holes.

Its the zanussi drain pump we fit almost daily,
the gaskets ok, no leaks any where,
been testing it , o k 2 washes
the old pump blackened blown windings a mess 🙄September 19, 2005 at 9:15 pm #147654Flyman

Standard Zanussi drain pump does not have a thermal cut-out. You must fit the one for the washer dryer. I have seen one of these melt the base assembly because it had the wrong pump fitted. 🙁

Gotta be a leak somewhere. Maybe running down the leads?

Had a similar one about a year ago. Replaced pump three times in just over twelve months. On this one the lady of the (enormous) house used the dryer every time she washed, problem was she washed three full loads a day, every day. That said, the poor little Askol was working more hours a day than me 8O.
No wonder they were worn out!!!

Its been sold as a recon, and havent had a recall.
it blow part of the windinds away, rather then overheat and melt.

Next time you see a Zanussi W/D I think you will spot the TOC around the askoll coil. Whilst they appear like a common or garden Askoll pump, looking closely you will notice that the mains terminals are offset (some with 3 terminals (one blanked off) as in this example = Part No: 1249206128 😉

Common prob Ive had with this fault has been the breather hose situated at the top of the tank connecting to dispenser. These either come adrift or just split thus causing wash water to run down tank and find a way onto empty pump.
