I’d like some advice on what might be the problem with my Hotpoint WMA37 washing machine. It wont spin during any wash or spin cycle. The drum seems ok as I can turn it by hand. It fills and empties ok it just doesnt move !
Is it simple to fix ? Would it be worth calling a hotpoint engineer or a local tradesman?
Cheers Booley
Check the carbon brushes in the motor. Most likely worn out. As always, if you intend trying repairs yourself, power off and unplug before doing anything.
Thanks. My hubby has had the top off it and noticed an electrical componant appeared burnt out. Would this be a possible cause or just a further problem.
Ps the machine is only 3 years old but the sales warranty ran out last month ( typical)
You have a 5 year parts warranty on the machine, although you have to pay the call out (£89.95). If the burnt out component is the computer board, it would be worth calling them out, otherwise a local repairer may be the cheaper option.
Check Directories or Repairs@ for a UKW repairer in your area. Power off if you continue to investigate.
