Hi there, my 5 year old dishwasher stopped emptying recently. This is the first fault with the machine. Either the pump is not working or the outlet is blocked. Some work was done on my water supply by the council, and I’ve been told that grit may have entered the dishwasher. The same work also blocked the toilet cistern and may have been the cause of a problem with my cold water expansion tank ballcock, all within a few days of each other. I discovered this too late to claim the council or insurance.

I couldn’t see an obvious way of opening the dishwasher to have a look at the pump and would appreciate directions on how to do this.
    Thanks.

If you can hear the drain pump whirring away, check the outlet coupling at the sink. If you cannot hear the pump whirring away, remove the access panel in the sump (under the filters) as per your user instructions and see what you can fish out.
