ParticipantI cuurently have a Hotpoint Mistral frost free fridge freezer which has been nothing but trouble over the past year and I am now going to replace it with a new model.
Which frost free models are the most reliable, i was thinking of buying Bosch, would paying the extra for this brand be worth it in the long term?
All advice will be gratefuly receivedSeptember 26, 2005 at 8:33 am #148239don

Bosch are about the best there is they do several models depending on the split of fridge to freezer you require. A good all all round unit would be the KGU31125GB also available in silver, comes with a two year guarantee subject to you registering appliance with Bosch. You can view it here http://boschappliances.co.uk A visit to your`e local independant retailer should do the trick who will be able to offer a high level of service and aftercare.

Don, thanks for the quick reply, i have just been to a local store and the Bosch seemed a liitle small, however i did see a Zannusi that would be suitable, are these generaly reliable?

Hi
I`d probably look at Hotpoint after Bosch as they seem to produce a better interior and they have quite a range of machines available. Just an opinion of course 😉
Hope this helps

Lookong at Hotpoint, they do have good designs but i have had a lot of trouble with my current Hotpoint model and the engineer (who i have got to know to well) keeps grumbling that Hotpoint frost free models are norhing but trouble so i am worried about buying one, however i have to say I am worried about the competance of the engineer who has replaced 3 control boards in 12 months without any efforts to fault find.
Is it Hotpoint or the engineer i should be worried about?

If you have a run through the Mistral threads in the Refrigeration forum, you will notice that the thermistors fail with alarming regularity and the boards occasionally. 3 in 12 months? I don’t think so……. Also, bear in mind that if you go for a new Hotpoint, you’ve still got the same engineer looking after you……..
