We have organised for several appliances to be 24/7 tested for us. All the Data from those test will enable us to gain insight into failures and longevity of parts within the appliance.
We unfortunately can’t start these tests until all our 1st batch is landed with us. We have now been informed that this is now a date in December and has scuppered our plans for a December 3rd launch. Whilst we rethink the launch it should allow us to NDT test during December, before launch.
What’s the feeling of you guys if we were to perhaps aim for a Mid January 2006 launch, having lots of NDT data by then?

Not a bad idea, a December launch would be just before the main Christmas spending spree, when people are not really thinking about whitegoods unless it is an emergency. Mid January would allow the physical and financial headaches to have eased somewhat.

I know this is well out of date now but bearing in mind what is being spoken about at the moment , has the NDT been done with all the data available.
Is it not fair to assume that the brushes on the motor and probably the pump will almost certainly need to be replaced within a 5 year period of average family use on every ISE machine unless they really are of supreme quality.Thanks

The appliances have been delivered for the testing, they have been in place for 3 weeks and we have no data as yet. We also haven’t had a failure either.
More time required before we can draw conclusions from anything.As for pump and carbons, I already work on Beko appliances (about 10 a week) and carry one set of carbons on the van. We use carbons in about 0.5{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} of our beko calls, these are extended warranty calls for a major retailer. Ie in the 2 to 5 year bracket.
As for pumps, yes we do change them but then no more than every other manufacturer that uses plaset/askol type of pump, about 3{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} of our beko calls require a pump.hope that helps

Sorry Kevin it might just be me but I don`t understand your {e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d}age figures.
Lets keep it simple if we take 100 brand new ISE machines and they`re used by a family of 4 for 5 years , how many ,as an engineer would you expect to need the carbons replaced . Everyone feel free to put a figure on this but I`ll start and I`d say 80.If we get enough engineers giving their estimate then maybe we`ll get a to be expected average.

Nowhere near that number Bryan, maybe on an old Hotpoint 95 series, but not now.
Just think of a Zanussi, how many need carbons? Ever.
Let me put it this way, a major manufacturer who will remain nameless passes out approx 100,000 service calls per anum, obviously some escape the net to charge or other insurers but the maths works for the illustration. The same manufacturer sells approx 500,000 appliances per anum. 80-85{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} of calls in the first two to four weeks is an installation problem which will account for about 10{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} of all calls made.
All these sorts of stats are available and that figuree of an 80{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} failure rate is just so OTT it’s unbelievable. No insurer would touch an appliance with that kind of failure risk because, in the end, for them its just a numbers game. And you do the same thing if you choose not to take an extended warranty on anything you buy as you’re just playing the numbers as they are and banking on it landing in your favour. Same thing, only different.

I can not speculate on percentages on 100 ISE appliances Bryan….
I’d rather quote that on the Beko appliances that I’ve been servicing for 2 years I have a 0.5{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} failure rate on the carbons.
That is one half appliance per 100 appliances.As the ISE motor is an existing Beko motor why should the figure be much different?
As for askol/plaset pumps, it’s simply 3 appliances in 100 appliances.

Thanks for that reply Kevin , hopefully some of the other guys will read this and let us know what sort of figures they might expect from their experiences. As I`ve said it can only be some sort of estimate but it may give us all some sort of insight as to expected failure on these two items.
I`ll stick with my 80 and Kevin`s at 3.5 anyone else care to give a number ❓
