KeymasterOK, here’s the first stab at putting it in writing, play with it and see where we get it too.
Level 4…Commission Only.
For this level to work some responsibilities must lie with the Lead business. Whilst we (UKW) can do the internet sale and ensure the sale is recorded against the Repair agent, we can not do the following two points:
a) the delivery to the customer
b) the installation and instruction on use. These have to be within the remit of the level 4 agent for this to not cost UKW time, money and reputation. Remember that we are increasing our service to allow non Vat registered businesses to sell and service the appliance. This will also affect the completed call rate and extended warranty work as no Vat can be payable to these agents.
Therefore Level 4 agents will still have to accept delivery to them and install/instructions to their customer as part of their commission deal.
Where the Lead business wants to accept the service work the level two criteria must apply.
Where the lead business wants to use external labour (non UKW member)to service the appliances, this will not be allowed and service work will be apportioned in Level 1 and where necessary level 2 status.
Where the Lead business wants to Commission sell (level 4) and have an existing or new arrangement with a supporting level 2 or level 1, with regards to the service work, UKW can work these arrangements out.
Commission Rates.
A commission of £65.00, payable for each successful return of the warranty card and agent number on a monthly account basis.

We would require some sort of bond/agreement from the level 4 so that they would be responsible for the safe keeping, security, and correct handeling during trasportation, right up to the point where the customer signs for the appliance.
i.e. if the appliance were to be lost, damaged, or stolen whilst in the care of the level 4 agent. it would be regarded as his liability.

As this will probably only effect very few, do we really need a level 4 ?
Would it not be easier to use some form of referal system, that way we keep control of everything. I’m assuming this is in response to Trigger ?
Firstly we can’t deliver to him as he would sell nationally as we will, he would have to purchase it from us directly on our site then we deliver to the customer, treat the customer as “ours” effectively but give him the commision per month as suggested.
This isn’t an easy one to be honest, if we loose “sight” of the appliance we’re fooked with the back-up.

KeymasterI need to think about this, but I see where you’re going Kev with the VAT element and, TBH, I forgot that and it’s important I think. If we don’t get a VAT invoice then we can’t pay out VAT and that would also include the £65 element as well as we’d have to justify that to the VAT man and we don’t want hassle there. 😕
PITA.
I think we need to do something here, but I need to digest what Kev has written a bit more.

We all know of a lot of independents that have down sized back to one man bands who have managed to get out of the VAT system and have no wish to get back into it.
We have to try and come up with a way of including them. Perhaps a ‘sales lead payment’ on completion of a sale that we do directly from the site might be an answer.
The customer deals directly with us and has the appliance delivered to her
address and the guy that get’s us the sales lead could also gets to install it.That way we dont have the bother or risk of credit control on the guy who gets our machine in our customers house. Plus there would be less risk of the guy damaging the appliance in transit trying to do it on his own.
This is a similar system to the one Whirlpool use with their own agents for sales leads.
Remember, there are more one man bands out there than anything else
so let’s turn them into the UKW national sales force. -
