We have a built in whirlpool AWG349/1 where the door won’t open and is very hard to shut.I have replaced the door interlock at great expense but it is still the same. You have to slam the door shut several times to get it to close and operate, then when it has finished you have to use a screwdriver to prize the door open.
    Any Idea’s
    Cheers

Always electric power off when examining machine for faults.
Have a good look at the door hinge to make sure it is not twisted.
Check that the door rubber is correctly seated where it fits to the front panel on the machine.
Worth checking door catch for breaks / faulty spring.

Take the baskets out and try it. If it closes and opens ok your problem lies with the top basket not locating onto the water connection at the back of the cavity.

Ooooppssssss. 😳 Sorry, was busy answering dishwasher posts, thought this was another one.
Penguin is right, door hinge at fault as regards not operating the interlock.
If the door has moved far enough to the left it will also begin to jam.
Ta for that Penguin, I’ll try to stay awake for the rest of the night. 😛

There’s an unofficial mod for this 😉

Door hinge spacer plate, goes between the hinge and door frame. You can easily make something though, put a couple of washers in there and try that, it normally works 🙂
