I need a second washing machine primarily to wash horse rugs & other asorted equestrian/outdoor items. A horse rug is a tight squeeze in a standard 5-6kg load machine – are there any slightly larger machines that would cope better. I am looking to buy 2nd hand & keep an eye out on e-bay etc.

Keep an eye out for a Whirlpool American style top loader. These will take an 18lb load ideal for horse blankets and rugs. However as they do not have a heater element you will need to have a good supply of hot water on tap. Also because of the large volume of water they use, circa 100 litres you will need to have a waste outlet of almost 2 inches in diameter.
