    Hi,

    I dont know if anybody can help me on this one. I’ve got a Smeg dishwasher, DWF614SS, with an error code of E8.

    When i got to the job, the customer told me that there was also a clicking noise when you set the programme. I tested it and you can start a programme, it starts to make a clicking noise, which i later discovered to be the water distributor (top/bottom basket), the odd occasion it will fill with water, most often not, then after about 20 seconds it beeps and flashes up E8.

    I took the distributor to pieces, and rebuilt it, which is now silent running, but i still get the E8 code. The water valve reads ok as well.

    I hope somebody can shed some like on this problem for me.

    Perhaps a good start might be to replace the inlet valve and see what happens (I have known valve coils to be intermittant)?

    I can get it to fill, say 1 time out of 5, but it still flashes up e8 so I’m pretty sure its not that.

    According to Smeg:

    E8 = read error, reset and try again 😕

    Have you tried resetting it grooster ?

    I’ve pressed the start button for five seconds which ends the current programme as far as i know, but is this the rest your talking about?
