ParticipantHey Gang.
I am being out smarted by my F&P smartdrive 601.
I aquired it through a friend who had not used it for two years. I was able to plug it in initially and wash about three loads. It was running a-ok until I heard a spinning noise coming from the next room one night. Not in the habit of putting on a load at 3 in the morning, i decided to investigate. The machine was making a spinning noise, however the drum was not actually spinning. It made no difference whether the machine was powered on or off. The only way to stop the spinning noise was to switch it off at the wall. Now, every time I switch it back on at the wall, the spinning noise returns without the machine being powered on.
Hopefully someone out there can help me out. Otherwise, I may have to perform an exorcism. 😈
Thanks, MrJB.

Could be drain pump running. Faulty pressure switch could activate the pump if stuck in flood protection mode, possible module fault.
Run diagnostics as outlined at top of the forum and post your answers.

For the form you have demonstated why never to work on an F&P pluged in any part of the machine can become live when plugged in and switched OFF??.
Sounds like the module is leaking internaly onto the pump Triac BT136 or onto the connector were the powerboard joins the cpu board in the motor control module (white marks or water in module) check the pump resistance if you decide to replace the module.October 3, 2005 at 11:01 pm #148973Penguin45

Good spot F&P – got to be leakage or an earth fault somewhere. It had been a long day………

Thanks for the advice guys.
I ran diagnostics as directed by Penguin45. Upon holding the water temp & power buttons down and releasing, I (think) I had 00100010 displayed. The machine would not let me press ‘spin speed’ until the ‘hold’ and ‘slow’ LEDs were lit.
I have also clarified the problem further. It appears that machine is stuck in ‘draining’ mode (as suggested by Penguin45). I filled the tub with water only to have it pumped right back out again when turning the machine on at the wall.
Thanks for the advice during the week guys. However, I have no idea what to look for or what to do when it comes to machine parts. I had a look under the hood. There appears to be no white marks or water in the computery-bits of the machine (as advised by FastAndPro). I am also unsure what to look for when FastAndPro recommended checking the pump resistance.
I am going back for another look. I await your replies.
Thanks again. MrJB
