My dishwasher, an Indesit D3000WG, drains and fills and the heating elements get hot…but…
The circulation pump doesn’t run. When it should be running I can hear a humming sound and the motor gets hot. The motor is free to turn by hand. I understand from other posts that problem is likely to be the motor itself or the capacitor. Before I go and buy a new motor can anyone tell me how to test the capacitor?
Debris within the pump assembly jamming the impeller a possibilty.
Failing that just change the capacitor app £10, if no cure most likely the motor.
As always :plug: before attempting any repair.

The capacitor can be tested with a meter. Also be aware that this can store a huge charge which may be live even with the power off. Also if the motor has overheated the windings may be damaged due to the cooling fan in the rear of the motor not running. So a replacement can be fitted but the life of the motor may be shortened. If you are going to have a look yourself pull the mains plug :zap: . Or you can look at Repairs@ on the LHS of page.
