Went to one of those last November (blown capacitor). Never seen one before, at the time it was hidden behind curtains under the sink drainerboard. The old girl dragged it out whilst I was scratching my head in disbelief as to what the hell I had taken on! Once I took the side panel off and checked it out, I was amazed at it’s Brick Outhouse build quality and ease of maintenance.

    Those were the days eh?

When I finally gave the death sentence to a 35 year old Hotpoint 1504 a short time ago, the customer was rather put out because I didn’t immediately remember calling in the past, then she produced my last invoice dated 1982. 😀

I have a customer that still has a fully functional 1504 except that the hot valve is duff and has been for 15 years or more. So instead she fills it using the detached hot hose until the Pulsator bursts into life during the filling cycle and then lets it carry on :rotfl:

In case you were thinking….. 🙄

She rejects my offers to replace the hot solenoid valve as “an unneccesary expense!” 😯

A cold fill only machine, now there is a novel concept. 😉
