KeymasterOk,
How about Wednesday the 9th November 2005 to include Friday 11th November 2005.
Thats 2 overnights locally.
I can bring the appliance with me in the van, having picked it up from CDA.
That means we have Wednesday PM, all day Thursday and Friday morning too.
Kenneth you will need all the lenses and stuff for this date, do you need lighting?
I reckon Dave should be there too, to take his “parts pictures” at the same time.
What you think

So long as you’re long gone by early afternoon on the Friday, no problem. That’s T’s birthday and if I screw that up… well you know. 😉
I don’t need lighting, that’s pretty easy to do really and it’s not Skywalker Ranch, just us and a camera or two. 😉
I only need a macro lens and flash ring for the close-up stuff. Only, being the best part of a grand for the two. 😕 What do you want me to do about a DV camera? I haven’t looked any further than the info I sent you the other day, but I’d do more investigation first to ensure we get the best thing for what we want to do at a sensible price.
I don’t see the need for Dave to drag his ass all the way up here unless he wants to of course as I can photograph all the pics and send him a disc with that all on it. We pretty much know what we’ll use anyways and all they need is putting on a background and snapped.

KeymasterRe: Tech info and dvd/photo shoot.
Remember that the stuff you buy has to do us for 3 different appliances.
If we are to do this right, we’d better have decent tools to work with.
I think we already disscussed a figure of around £2,000 for your bits and pieces.
No probs with T’s birthday.

I was kind of hoping to tie this in with a visit to some estate agents but Claire is tied up with an important NHS meeting on the Friday.
I’d quite like to be there to be honest but if it’s an expense UKW can avoid then whatever’s easiest. I do need to catalogue the spares though, everything and I mean everything. Circlips, screws the fecking lot 😉

So, Mr Conway will be getting lessons on how to use a camera then. 😉
The best deal I can get on a camcorder seems to be…
http://www.purelygadgets.co.uk/showprod … prodid=916
That gives all the bits required and HDV if it’s needed in the future, though I wouldn’t bother with HD for this one as there’s no HD-DVD standard just yet as they’re fighting about who’s right as usual. Or who owns the rights and gets the royalties is more accurate. But nonetheless it’s capable and easy enough to use, also of great use for meeting etc. and not too bulky or expensive.
To be honest I’m fed up reading reviews of the damn things too.
Solved the flash issue for macro photography and saved about £250 in the process! So Kev will be happy. 😀
Basically and, I didn’t know this, you can get brackets so as I can use my flash as is with a shoe-off lead, but that’s another £25, the bracket with the tripod adaptor was £70 delivered. Still a lot better than a flash ring at about £350!
I also reckon that, for spares I’ll get away with a 100mm Canon lens pretty easily with the above. In fact, I know I will. Which is some £600 less than the super duper macro lens as I can get that from Hong Kong for just under £300, £100 more in the UK as well as the shoe-off lead. Need to dig up the hood for the damn thing though as the glass is exposed and it is needed with the flash in use to stop things looking shitty, but that shouldn’t be expensive at all.
All in all, way under what I thought both would cost and under the £2K we talked about for the camcorder alone never mind the photography stuff.
If you want me to order that camcorder Kev can you ask Cheryl to fire over the cash for it as I have feck all idea how much is in my account, probably more than enough to cover it, but I’d be guessing in all honesty.

Everything is still the same….. CDA are delivering the appliance up to Killy, so I don’t have to fetch it.
I’ll be there for lunch time Dave.
