I did the codes search in the forum but cannot find the F18 code. The manual talks of codes F1-F16. Have had for just over a year. Could someone please shed any light?
When turned on to any wash or drying the washer would sound as if to start then stops with the F18 mocking.

F18 indicates a control unit error I’m afraid 🙁
It may be worth asking an engineer to confirm though as they aren’t cheap by any means.
Check Repairs@ for one 🙂
