ParticipantHi,
I am having some trouble with my F&P Washer. A couple of days ago I put a load on to wash, when I got home for lunch found the machine happily beeping away with the wash progress lights lit up in the following manner 00100 000. To my dismay no amount of button pushing would get the machine to do any more than attempt to rotate three or four times for a second or two, at which point it would return to the whole beeping thing again. Upon some searching in this forum I think I found the process for activating diagnostic mode (Thanks Kiwi)“Turn machine OFF on the front panel. Hold down the Water Temp Down button and press the POWER button. Release buttons. You are in Diagnostic mode. Press advance once, press the spin speed up button until the hold and slow are lit. Write down the LEDS which are lit across the top row of progress LEDS. and post back. “
After following this process the wash progress lights lit up in the following sequence. 00101 011
At this point I am stumped and would really apreciate any light anyone can shed on this problemRegards Matt

You were spot on with the diagnosis kiwi, as you sudgested the switch was corroded and had jammed in the on position. As a temporary fix I hit it with some contact cleaner and compressed air which breathed a bit of life back into it. Being somewhat familiar with Omron switchgear and relays I have ordered the switch only from our local Middy’s rather than a genuine F&P part in the hope this may be a little cheaper since I was quoted about $5 for the switch itself. Although I could not get the exact same switch which was a V-6-2C4 I was able to get a similar one a V-15-1C25 which is identical except that it is rated at 15 amps rather than 6 amps and has both a normally open and normally closed set of contacts.
The long and short of it is that the machine is up and running again for a total cost of five bucks. Thanks guys for the prompt and accurate diagnosis and the next time my washer breaks down I’ll know exactly where to go for advice.
With your help I may be able to keep the old thing going for another ten years HA HA. 😉November 24, 2005 at 7:58 am #150898KiwiwantsworkinCanada
