ParticipantI have searched but not really found much on the above model fridge freezer. It has been faultless for quite a few years now but stopped working yesterday. There are digital displays for the fridge and freezer which still read correctly but neither now are actually cooling. I have pulled the back of the freezer section and found the fan not running with no voltage to the connection. I am a process engineer but without drawings etc need some advice on how to progress with the fault finding. There are several electrical connectors coming through the back along with the fan one. One of these goes to an encapsulated small black box located in the back of the freezer. Does anyone know if a separate thermostat is used to as well as the sensors feeding the digital displays on the front indicating fridge and freezer internal temperatures ❓ Thanks in advance but don’t want to chuck this unit unless the costs are too expensive really.

Fully digital this one, Heath, so no manual thermostats. Ususal problems are thermistors or board faults.
Check this:

You can get the sensors for this model (normally foamed in and non-replaceable) 🙂
Part number 031733 at £12.00 each plus £3.95 carriage, they appear to be the same one’s for the fridge and freezer.
If you need them, an email to spares@ukwhitegoods.co.uk please
Dave.

Thanks I did read through that post but it looked to be a standard unit with manual thermostats so probably not the same problem. Both digital displays for the fridge and freezer compartments read correctly so I’m doubtfull that it’s a thermister issue.October 22, 2005 at 10:36 pm #151325sparkey

This symptom is normally an indication that the electronic control panel at the top has failed, this is a single compressor appliance and the compressor control circuit most probably failed.
Replacement panels available from http://www.bshappliancecare.co.ukpart number 263782 £96.00 + p&p and vat, or try for a local engineer on repairs@ over to the left of this page.

Thanks I suspected as much. Will weigh up if its worth spending out on such an old unit or just replace 😉 -
