Hi there,
I have a creda T622CW condenser dryer; with the timer dial in any position, even the zero (off) position the heater elements come on when the ‘start cycle’ button is depressed. There is a schrack power relay behind the front facsia (almost accessible when removing the top cover:) and the contacts of this are free and the relay operates OK (the contacts are not welded) what I’d like to know is, if the problem lies with the timer itself? I am assuming that the element bank is driven from this (not wanting to disassemble the loom…) and that maybe there is a stuck contact in here. does anyone have a circuit diagram they can send me or have a look at for me & verify the fault for me? I am new to this site & if you supply spares I am more than happy to buy them here; I usually order from the manufacturer.

Hi
The relay you refer to is the start/run relay, this will have no bearing on the heater.
It is most likely to be the timer that has failed, you will be able to get one from here, click the shop@ link to the left and look in the shop.
If it’s not there then give Dave Conway a shout and he will be able to supply the part for you at a sensible price.
Remember to disconnect from the mains before removing any cover, lid or pannel.

Timer kit for this machine is a 1702509. It will more than likely be a different timer with wiring instructions enclosed. Cost under £25 ex vat.

the replacement timer cured the ‘heater always on’ fault. BUT, this is a bit of a ringer this machine; the motor runs for approx 1 min. before the overheat thermistors operate in the motor. resetting after the stator has cooled sufficiently. (I disconnected the heating load to save the cut-outs) I have measured the motor current, it is not excessive at 340mA. I am going to try a replacement capacitor (looks like a CSR motor) first & if this fails to help, I may have to scrap it off (I would think the cost of a new motor may be x-essive?) if anyone has any other thoughts in the meantime – I’d appreciate it. Just going to try search threads on TD motors. Great website by the way…

Motors faults are not that common on these machines, was the new timer a different one to the original, sounds like you may have a couple of wires in the wrong place.
Motor kit is approx £37.00 ex Vat. Cannot remember when I last changed one though.Re: Creda T622CW heater is always on
Hello buddy,
yes it’s a different timer, creda sent me a cross ref. sheet and the old references tied up and I connected the unit up as shown (including the new links supplied) I suppose the leads down to the motor capacitor may have been swapped by someone, but I doubt this would make a difference? I’ll re-check them all in the morning. The drum rotation seemed to be OK before. the original timer was a:- copreci TD-020014 and the replacement is an invensys EC4925. I am tempted to call creda and ask if I can have a drawing to check all the connections out, I know a service engineer has looked at this one in the past. How are creda at giving out diagrams? (not very good I imagine…)I could try an isolated supply onto the motor? does the timer do the reversing of the drum rotation?
I appreciate your help iadom – it helps to talk to someone else, I remember doing appliance servicing as part of my apprenticeship (a few years ago. lol) and spending many a jolly hour then…

Just a thought, are you sure it is the motor that is cutting out and not the start relay, the reason I suspected a wiring fault was because I assume the motor was apparently working OK before the timer was fitted. The timer on this machine does control the reversing of the motor, it does not have a separate timer in the base. Unfortunately Creda, AKA the Indesit Company will not give any technical information out, even to the trade. 😥

Probably you may have inadvertently connected the new Timer incorrectly? The terminal lay-out of the Invensys Timer is easy to make this mistake, the most common error is getting the two switchbanks (A & B) the wrong way round as the terminal numbers are the same on both 🙄
