ParticipantHello, I have a friend with one of these and it keeps resetting every couple of hours making the alarm go off, even though it is still working and maintaining it’s temperature. I’d really appreciate any help, thanks.

My guess is the fridge door has dropped and it’s not operating the switch, the PCB unit thinks the door is open and sounds the alarm.
Normally caused by heavy bottles etc being placed in the door shelves.
Check that the light goes off and stays off when the fridge door closes (watch the last few centimeters when closing) 😀

ParticipantI have a Hotpoint FFA90P as well and my fridge will not cool. The freezer seems to be working fine but I cannot get the fridge to kick in and cool the compartments down. It did this once before but it rectified itself. It has been like this for about 48hours now and I am beginning to worry. The fridge freezer is only 21 months old.
Any suggestions – I really do not want to have to pay hotpoint the £90+ they said it would be for an engineer to call out if there is something I can do myself or you can recommend an engineer nearby who won’t charge the earth to look at it.
The sooner the better as I had just been shopping when this problem started and I have a fair amount of stuff that is in danger of going off 🙁

It may be that too much ice has formed in the freezer for some reason stopping cold air reaching the fridge, a total 24 hour defrost will normally help if that is the case.
Apart from that, an engineer is the solution, check Repairs@ for an independent repairer who should be able to help.
And may the frost be with you 😆

ParticipantMany thanks. Will try that later today. Have already been on the Repairs@ section so an engineer will probably contact my partner at some point today. I will let you know how it goes. Thanks for such a quick response.

ParticipantWell the 24hr defrost seems to have worked. Many thanks for the suggestion and saving me a call out fee. Will keep these forums bookmarked now for any further whitegoods problems. 🙂
