ParticipantHi Guys,
We currently have a Scandinova FF5357 fridge/freezer, and are looking to replace it with a similar size and capacity model.
However, after a prolonged search on the internet, nothing comes close to the ‘claimed’ freezer capacity of the Scandinova.
The ‘net’ figures quoted on the unit are 143 litres for both the fridge and the freezer, which has 5 compartments. The dimensions are 1805 x 600 x 600 (or thereabouts), and that’s the space we have available.
Any suggestions as to a comparable model with these requirements?
Thanks in advance,

The problem with those type of machines was that capacity was the main factor. The cabinets are quite thin so yes while the storage was fine the energy efficiency was not very good compared to today`s standards.
The nearest I can find from the mainstream suppliers would be the Bosch KGV34325GB which is 192L in the fridge, 112L in the freezer and stands 185cm high this comes with a two year guarantee and is an A rated machine. http://www.boschappliances.co.uk
Gorenje produce the RK6356W which is 185 high with a nett capacity of 204L in the fridge and 118 in the freezer. This also comes with a two year cover too. Again you can see this here http://gorenje.co.uk
personally I like the Bosch appliances 😉
Another option would be to look at seperate fridges and freezers if space allows.
let us know the outcome.

Hi
Insulation on modern refrigeration is thicker than on the older type so internal space will be smaller for the same external dimentions.

Hello, and thanks for your replies.
The 1850 height is slightly too high for the space of the existing unit – which brings me on to another question.
When we had the new kitchen units, they were designed and arranged around our appliances, including the Scandinova.
Currently there is no ventilation to either side, only the small vents at the bottom to the front of the machine. There is also ventilation space behind the top cupboard, which is above the fridge.
Would I be correct in saying that this is now not advisable, and full ventilation is suggested (or required)?
Again, thanks in advance.

Heat from the rear of the appliance would need to dissapate. So ventilation at the top rear would be good also probably half an inch either side would help keep things running nicely.
As for the height restriction can you gain that little extra, as it will affect the nett capacities if you drop back to 180.

Hello Don,
Many thanks for the info. The only way forward I believe, is for us to have a seperate fridge where the existing unit is, and a freezer out in the utility room.
Thanks again,
