Hi – The other day i deleted a post that i had just submitted even though the option to do this is disabled (in your can / cannot do’s). On another occasion i edited a post to combine two posts and tried to delete the second without sucess (in the fuzzy logic thread).

Is there a time limit on an option to delete after posting?

i presume that not being allowed to delete posts is to preserve the continuity of the thread?

You can delete your own posts I think, but not others’.

    Re: Deleting posts

Well Ken you would think so. The edit button tool tip says edit and delete and yet no option usually is available. I would’nt have know how it worked apart from the single time that the check box option was shown.

I assumed it had beem disabled. It is possibly better like this because if people were able to delete it might spoil the continuity of the thread as you would have posts making reference to non-existant posts which would be confusing.

On the other hand it would be desirable to be able to delete a posts under certain circumstances.

Incidentaly, have you ever tried using HTML. Some tags work ok while others don,t so it is only a partial implementation. This bold italic text uses HTML tags rather than BBcode tags

Maybe only HTML tags that are the equiv of the implemented BBcode tags work.

Dunno then on the deleting of posts as I see a slightly different view from a normal user. 😉

Some HTML is removed, yes. I think it’s for security reasons more than anything else.
