Participantneff double oven
Problem with main oven door, client reports heat comming from top of oven door.
upon inspection door seems not to be closing correctly at top edge, from viewing from the side of oven, it is clearly not in line, ie its away from the seal at top point of door.
I have removed door- hinges seem fine, seal is also ok
the door seems a very heavy one indeed, and shows no sign of hinge weakness.
when on – oven loses a lot of heat from top edge..effects cooking process
any ideas
thanks
Graham

Almost certainly the hinges Graham. You can`t really test them just replace them and problem solved 😀 .

i had one of these hinges looked o/k.i fitted new hinges but it didnt cure it.
the problem was the hinge guide had bent slightly forward.
i hit it with trusty hammer at the front with m/c in situ and it worked a treat.October 31, 2005 at 6:27 pm #152227Electricmalc

Have used loads of those hinges, an easy earner, for a change.

so do we have a straw pole on what is the correct rectification method.
1] trusty hammer method
2] replace with new neff hindges
press your red button if you have one.
guys aint sure i have a trusty hammer, I was always trained ( 5 year appenticeship) to use the correct tool. not to say i have never used a trusty hammer in the past, but it tended to be on a bit of conduit in my sparky days.
well i am jetting off to tenerife this week, so i will let the problem lie for a couple of weeks
thanks for suggestions so far

Personally, I’d change the keepers as well – 172647 x 2.

Had this same problem on a Bosch oven taken from a customer who bought a new one. Replaced the hinges which didn’t solve the problem. gave the oven to a friend of mine who used to be a Whirlpool supervisor for his ex wife and he found the guides were bent. He used the trusty hammer method and it worked. Don’t ask me why he wanted to give an oven to his ex wife.

No, definitely not. Apparently she never liked doing anything like that. Or not with him anyway. 🙁
