I have just moved into a house built 5 years ago and the conventional and fan ovens within a Belling Farmhouse 930 Electric Cooker are smoking really heavily whenever anything vaguely greasy (roast anything, battered fish, oven chips etc) is cooked.

We have had Belling replace a door seal and have cleaned both ovens using specialist oven cleaning products so that they are both spotless but they continue to smoke.

Any ideas on what to do (Belling customer support were of little help and I am loath to get them out as they cost £77 for a call out charge on a door seal!!!)

    Many thanks
    Ben

Although you may have had it cleaned, its unlikely the elements themselves will have been cleaned and the smoke is probably grease on these that is burning off. I dont really know any cure other than to put the ovens on max temp for a good hour or so and burn it off. Take the batteries out of your smoke detector before doing this and open all your windows first!
Assuming of course the thermostats are working. I am sure the Belling guy would have tested that? As a guide, if the oven stat light is going off at some point then the stats are ok. If the light never goes off and the oven gets hotter and hotter then the stats are faulty and needless to say anything cooked will be rather well done.
