    I have a 12 year old AEG OKO lavamat washing machine that has started leaking significant quantities of water from underneath (not obvious where from). On the first occasion I removed the emergency drain cover (?, bottom left on front of machine) and found a hairclip. The machine was fine for a few washes but has leaked again.

    Given its age, is it worth the expense of getting an engineer to have a look, or should I start looking for a new machine? However, in light of the number of comments on this site regarding new versus old build quality I’d prefer to keep my old machine if I can realistically expect another couple of years out of it. It has only ever gone wrong once previously, 10 years ago! Is this the beginning of the end?

    Yes, I would say it’s worth a look at to be honest.

    These older AEG’s were excellent machines, it may be just a hose split 😀

    Check Repairs@ for an Independent engineer who should be able to help.

    That’s really helpful to me also. I took a kirby grip out of mine while investigating a leak! I’ll definitely see if it can be repaired. Thanks 🙂
