….Hot news from a USA press agency, their latest technological advances produces :-
“The General Electric frontload laundry pair are large enough to handle 22 full-size bath towels, the king-sized 3.7 cubic foot stainless washer basket and the spacious 7.0 cubic foot dryer drum make room for family-size loads. The units also offer a 15-inch door opening.
The washer uses 10 gallons of water for a small load and 15 gallons for an average-size load, which reportedly saves up to 23 gallons per load, or 61 percent water. According to the company, the washer exceeds 2004 Energy Star(R) guidelines by 28 percent and already meets 2007 energy standards. A bright DuraDrum(TM) interior make it easier to see inside the washer and dryer.
Installation options include stacking the machines for an integrated look, or consumers may choose custom under-the-counter, built-in or side-by-side installations. The dryer door is reversible for additional flexibility. Optional 12 inch high storage drawer pedestals with dividers are available to provide convenience and extra storage space for detergent, dryer sheets and other cleaning supplies.
According to the company, the HydroMotion(TM) reversing tumble wash action of the washer and extra low heat selection (125°F) on the dryer helps protect valuable delicates. Dual electronic moisture sensors and two thermistors help prevent under- or over-drying. The Flow-Thru(TM) dispenser system releases the detergent, fabric softener, additives, and bleach at just the right time so consumers don’t have to.”

The Equator Corporation in the USA have just launched their latest machine onto the US market. A top-loader using “horizontal axis technology” like the ones used so very successfully over this side of the pond.

The Cobra-Hybrid’s features also include a one-touch start, delay start, a Load-Sensing Adaptive Fill, and internet connectivity for remote diagnostics.In addition, it is the first laundry appliance to use the Intellifill™ an intelligent automatic detergent dispensing system, allowing a bottle of liquid detergent can be loaded into the appliance, which will then dispense the correct amount for each load of laundry.
The hybrid appliance has no mechanical knobs, operating completely from an LCD touch display, which can display the full owner’s manual and a Help feature. Later models will have language modules, making the unit suitable for overseas markets. The Cobra-Hybrid is a 220-V venting unit, designed to be ideal for good for single-family homes.
The manufacturers website allows the consumer full access to exploded parts diagrams and self-help repair assistance. Doing away with the need to call in the ‘Repairman’ no doubt 🙄

IIRC Equator were using re-badged European appliances, no idea if that’s still the case or not, but I seem to recall something Merloni about it… 😉
