Hi, Does anyone know if it’s possible to do a test spin on this machine?
I’ve no info on this machine at all.

    Many Thanks

Can’t you just select spin from the control panel Ashby or are you trying to force it in to a fast spin straight away (which I don’t think you can on these) ?

Hi Dave, I selected an 800 spin, it started to spin twice only a few seconds each time and stopped. This is the first time i’ve worked on this model. just done a bearing change.

    Was it empty ?

It sounds like an OOB detection problem, check the tacho leads aren’t chaffing against the motor casing or possibly a control unit problem perhaps ?

Yes, it was empty. Will it not spin without a load? no fault code appeared.

    Yes, it should spin empty.

I would check the leads etc for chaffing just in case but it sounds like a control unit problem to me 🙁

You weren’t just being impatient were you Ashby? (I would be, after a job like that). These bl””dy things can take ages to get into a spin and some’ll pause silently, on the way, so you think they’ve finished when they haven’t. Best thing to do is put it on to test while you start packing the tools away. (Don’t do what I do though and start testing as you’re putting the panels back on; and don’t tell anyone I said that).

    Check your e-mails Ashby. 😉

There is a full test sequence with its own set of error codes for the WMA62/3

if you have removed the fascia check that you have all the leads on ok especially the two far right ( heater p sw ) I had a customer done his own brg change and had just this fault took ages to find especially as manual appears to change colour from one end of wire to the other

ps this fool had gained access to the back pulley with a hammer and chisel!!!!!! had to fit a plate over the hole

    good luck

This is a WMA63 Ultima with digital display, only connection to control module is a single six wire block to the power board.

    Re: Hotpoint WMA63

Just ran a quick test on my own WMA63 whilst keeping one eye on my bacon, sausages, tomatoes, mushrooms under the grill and the eggs nicely poaching in the pan. The 800 spin cycle should show 12 minutes in the display. it spins for two very short 15/20 second bursts at approx 400rpm, at around 7 minutes it spins at what appears approx 600 rpm for 25 seconds or so, it only does one spin at 800 rpm at around 3 minutes which also lasts about 25/30 seconds.
