I have bought a second hand Paul Bocuse Rossieres 4040DB freestanding oven. Whilst the right hand size oven is fine (after I replaced the bottom element), the left hand oven does not appear to heat up properly. Testing both ovens by cooking a Victoria sponge (my test for oven effectiveness!!) at the same time, the right hand cooked perfectly in 20mins whilst the left side took 40 mins. Any ideas??

    hi

depending on the spec of the oven it may have a fan assisted or a a conventional oven that can be used with or without the fan,it may well be that it is a conventional oven and the element either in the top or the bottom of the oven has failed.

    Thanks for the response.
The left hand side is fan assisted if the button pressed. When I tested, I had the fan on and expected it to be quicker than the right side which is conventional.
RE the elements. I did a simple continuity test which proved that there was continuity. However, I guess this just demonstrates that there is continuity and not the effectivenesss of the element. Can elements progressively fail or is it work/dont work option only.

Check the condition of the door seal and hinges 😉

It may be a heat loss problem.

Seals seem ok…. WRT my last post, can the elements degrade or if the continuity test was ok, it means the problem is not the elements….?

    hi

easy way to test that the bottom element is working on the left oven is to turn the oven on and then place your hand on the base of the oven.

if it warms then the element is working,if not then the element has failed. :eeek: beware it will become HOT.

also putting trays ect on the base of the oven will stop the oven functioning correctly.

I havent come across this oven taking 40mins to heat unless the bottom element or top one has failed.
