ParticipantHello,
Could you tell me if this is a SMEG make with an MFI badge or other make.
It is giving an E3 error, eventhough when you open it the plates are hot, but there is foam and water at the base of the machine and into the sump. (it is def. an E3 error)
I have tried the clean out (re E2 errors) of the waste pipe but to no avail.
The local domestic repair boys said I they don’t do Diplomat repairs and I should try MFI……I am loathed to do this. The house is for sale at moment so not looking for major repair bills.
Any help would be most gratefull,
Thank you,
Grant (Aberdeenshire)

Yes, it’s a Smeg 😉
It may be a dosage/detergent issue if there is too much foam. Try running it empty with no detergent and see what happens…

I ran it empty (no dishes and no soap) last night on the eco cycle.
Still got the E3 error this a.m. (LEDs on, on, off, off, on).
Do I need a big hammer?
Grant
PS Is it a particular model of SMEG?

I just checked this model and it doesn’t have a five led display, ADP8221 has a six button selector on the left and a start button on the right.
Can you double check the model please.
Dave.

Will do when I get home. The instruction book is def. for the 8221, but saying that the picture of the control panel is slightly different to the actual machine.
There are five LED to correspond to 5 diff. cycles (rinse, delicate, eco, normal, heavy pots) on the left and a black selector button next it. The on/off button is on the right hand side.
No other buttons, no digital read out panel.

Dave, you are right, the manual is an 8221, but the sticker says it is an 8112…
What a mess!
Is this still a SMEG…
And are the LED errors the same then….(on, on, off, off, on)

ParticipantRe: Diplomat ADP 8221
Sorry, I’ve been in a Northern land for a couple of days 😉
Yes, it’s still a Smeg, E3 would be 1+2 flashing and 5 on all the time.
If 1,2 and 5 are on constantly then it may be another component playing havoc with the electronics or the PCB itself.
Time for an engineer perhaps ? Try Repairs@ 🙂

Actually ripped the lower valance off around the base units tonight and found the re-set button on the thermostat. This has done the job..the first real wash for 2 weeks….Yippee.
Thanks again

Yes, power off…..actually got the wife to press the button..he he.
The mechanics/insides/underneaths appeared very clean and she was wanting to see, then pushed the red button!
So, I wasn’t in danger anyway, lol
