    Hygena dishwasher.
Sorry model no. of dw not noted 😳 😳 It’s one with out of sight heater element. Front panel has 3 posn. selector sw. & start button only. Circuit diagram bears no. 02022 B
Still you might have come across this.
    Askoll circ’n pump Mod M13 Art 295023 Cod 93411 Only 85watts.
Bayonet fit. Grey plastic into black chamber.
Wooden tooth pick was stuck in impellor and this presumably was what blew the circuit inside the motor cover.
So, looks like a diode and a resistor are down for starters.

Given my previous experience with electronics, I should probably just quote for the new pump but does anybody know this one?
The resistor code is definitely: brown, brown but I’m not sure if that’s red on the 3rd stripe due to overheating. It’s about a 2W by the look of it.

If this is one of the semi-integrated Brandt made ones then the genuine part number is 31X8546 and retails for £64.31 exc. VAT & P+P 😯

When Mike’s recovered from this (anyone have one of those silver blankets & a hot drink?) does anyone have a pattern alternative?

It looks like a standard twist-fit Askoll will do.

    (Still reeling), Thanks NWAR.
Customer just rang back to say model is AHY8101/2 white.
Circuit diagram pictures two alternative cycling motor arrangements, one with and one without capacitor. This is the one without.
“Standard twist fit askoll” ? This is nearly 5 inches across at the business end.

Sorry Mike, I wasn’t paying attention & thought you had said drain pump

The motor for this machine is part number 31X8374 and retails for £110.99 exc. VAT & P+P.

Are we going to need another blanket?

I’m afraid I don’t have a circuit diagram here. There is only one version listed which comes as a kit with the capacitor.

Looks like it’s worth me having a crack at fixing the old one then.
I’m quite sure they’ll just go back to doing the dishes in the sink otherwise as they’re gutting the kitchen soon.
Thanks for the blankets though, it was getting a bit chilly out here in the country.

Managed to get the old one running again although it seems to have a bit of wear in the impellor end bearing. The o/c resistor seems to have been 11k ohms as it runs OK with that value. Maybe they’ll get a year or two out of it by which time they’ll probably change the whole kitchen .
I dunno, the middle class eh?

Those Askol pumps were used by a few people and a retail of about £65 ex VAT rings a bell, but you have to be really careful to get the right one on Identiffier, it’s not at all obvious.

Now is the point where I remember that I should have set up a VPN to the server in work so I could look into it a bit more. 😕

IME however, when they go, they go and I don’t recall a start cap on those either.

Well I “soak tested” this one dry for about twenty minutes and it began to get a bit warm but didn’t give up, so I reckon it’ll be OK back in its own environment. The thing that stopped it originally was a wooden toothpick not wear n’ tear as far as I am able to tell.

Re: Askoll circulation pump no go, in Hygena d/w

Popped that back in yesterday. But I shouldn’t say popped because it was a right struggle. Maybe I made it more difficult for myself by spreading a little bit of Debor round the bayonet pump chamber joint(?). I don’t find any bayonet pumps very easy to extract or to re-install. Am I doing something wrong ❓
Anyway machine seems to work fine now (touching wood and hoping not to hear ‘phone).
    Mike.
Update 2009. This customer rang me about something else the other day and mentioned that the dishwasher is still going strong 😯 .
