ParticipantWhy are washing machines sooo heavy! 👿 Anyway I’ve got a problem with my pump – the water has not been draining. I’ve got to the pump and undone it, there’s no coins or anything inside, and no other blockages along the way (apart from a slight skin of limescale). The pump just hums and gets hot, the propeller doesn’t spin. I gave it a prod an it spun a few times but then stopped. 😳
Do I need a new pump, how much do you think?
Does the pump need water in it to run properly?BIG thanks, Sal x
(Pump model is PLASET ITALY cod. 48986, 50Hz

ParticipantRe: Humming Pump on Electra AWM 900B – tried new pump
Oh My God is it really over a month since I’ve had ringing wet washing!
Thanks Simon for you help, I order the pump, and got it connected…and the first time it did pump out, albeit with lots of rattling noises. But since then it’s been all wet still 🙁
The brand new pump is humming and getting hot to touch, I can see the propellor is not spinning, unless I give it a prod, and then only once or twice.
I’m really lost here 😥 and can’t figure out what else could be the prob… is there anyone who can come to my rescue?

Sally, a coin or something similar is “floating about” in there hence the rattling noises and now it’s jammed the new pump.
Remove the pump again and check 😀

Hi davey, I’ve had the pump chamber bit off, it’s clean as a whistle..no coins.
More worringly when this is connected to the power cables (yes I was v careful) and I set the dial on spin, the propellor doesn’t spin, it just hums and gets hot… ❓
Also looking at the pump motor bit, I can pull out the propellor with the magnet cylinder, is that normal? 😕
…rescue me

Davey ? 😆
Ah, in that case the pump may be faulty (unusual but it happens) 🙁
Please forward me the email sent from the shop@ from the original order (if you have it) to spares@ukwhitegoods.co.uk and I’ll get another one arranged for you.
Dave.

Does this machine empty into a “stand pipe”, or is it coupled to a spigot under the sink? If the latter, these are so and soes for choking up and restricting the water flow. The pump motor then cooks itself……..
