ParticipantHi.
I’m new to this forum so apologies if this question sounds stupid.
I have a Homark 703205 electric oven, purchased with a B&Q kitchen about 6 years ago. The other day it started cutting out after being run at a high temperature for a few minutes.
The power to the oven cuts out completely (including the digital clock display) and only comes back after a few minutes, also resetting the clock – just as if someone has switched the oven off at the wall. No other appliances in the kitchen seem effected, just the oven. I did think maybe there was smoke in the oven causing it so I cleaned it (three times to make sure!) but I’m still getting the same problem.
The oven appears to heat up fine so I don’t think it’s the element. The grill also works and glows red hot but running thie grill for a few minutes also causes the power to cut out.
Homark don’t exist anymore and ringing Caremark just gets an indifferent “try an electrician” response!
Please help!

It sounds like a power problem, possibly either the outlet spur/socket or the mains connector to me.
Power off when checking please :zap: or you should be able to find an engineer here Repairs@ 🙂

Thanks for the reply. I managed to get a guy out this morning from near where I live. The companies I contacted on Repairs@ wouldn’t fix a Homark oven.
Apparently, it was the ‘thermostat dual probe’ (according to the invoice), located behind the temperature knob. Cost of the part was £48.50 then labour was £31.50. Then VAT on top. Total cost of repair £94.47.
I’m no expert but this seems excessively high to me.
Have I been had???

Not at all, pretty reasonable on the labour to be honest and those dual probe thermostats have allways been expensive.
I think you had a good deal 😀

Oh right. Well that’s great then. 😀
I (probably naively) just typed ‘Homark thermostat’ into Google and it listed parts around the £30 mark inc. VAT.
Guess this wasn’t what I had replaced.
Took him a good hour to do it too.
Nice. Thanks for the replies!
