ParticipantI have a Proline condenser tumble dryer, which is leaking from the back left hand side. I removed the back panel & could not see any obvious cause, other than a build up of fluff. I removed the fluff, re-assembled the machine, but it still leaks!!
Any ideas of cause & solution?
Cheers in advance

It could be as simple as a badly fitting drain plug. At the back of the machine, behind the condensate bottle, there is a small black plug that you remove to connect the machine to a drain pipe. (this can only be done on stacked machines as the water needs to run away by gravity down the washing machine stand pipe). These plugs can sometimes leak.
Failing that, it is possible that the machine has been distorted (perhaps by someone sitting on it!) this can cause the float chamber to become detatched from the back panel and it will invariably leak from the broken silicone sealant.

Thanks for your reply Bob.
On further investigation, the water is coming from the bottom of the float chamber, even though it appears adequately attached to the back panel. Is general purpose silicone adequate to repair, or does it need to be something special??

Yep, a good quality bathroom sealant will do the job.
Slacken, or remove the back panel, clean of the old sealant, apply fresh sealant and then use the fixing screws to squish the sealant whilst it’s still wet.Bob
