Customer just phoned, moved into this house recently, dishwasher left by previous owner, was working fine.
Just had a new kitchen fitted now this integrated machine does nothing??
She says the light comes on but nothing else. kitchen fitters have been back and double checked all plumbing. Which, if any Hotpoint/Bosch clones is this machine like. Any other possibilties?

It’s quite similar to the BC20, same main components anyway 🙂

Looks a bit like the Hotpoint DC21 range, I’ll just have to suck it and see. 🙂
EDIT. Phoned her to get Enr number, it is actually virtually the same as the Hotpoint 6820. At least I have a manual on that so its a start, although it is from 1993 🙂

New kitchen fitted!!!!
Usually means nowt wrong with m/c, kinked inlet/outlet hose or drain blank not removed. 😉

If I had my way I would line them all up and shoot them, closely followed by most plumbers. They should all spend six months trying to repair appliances in fitted/integrated kitchens before they are set free on the general public.
I would estimate that the percentage of well installed, service friendly kitchens in this area is less than 10{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d}. 😥

Strange one this, went today. The plumbing appears sound, it has one of those ‘Aquastop’ doofers with the big thick pipe. Cannot see from the old ( 1990) Hotpoint manual any way that a fault in the aquastop could cause this problem.
The mains neon & the salt neon come on as soon as the On/Off button is depressed but when you close the door nothing happens. I have tried all combinations of the four selector buttons including the ‘advance to end’ option by pressing buttons 2&4 simultaneously. On the Hotpoint derivative even if the aquastop is faulty the initial drain operates.
The door switch is perfect, all the wiring appears to be in tip top condition, no problems near the hinge etc.Any other suggestions before I refer her to BSH?

I have had a faulty on/off switch give that fault (seperate contacts for L,N and neon IIRC), other than that if it won’t even go onto the test cycle then it sounds like a pcb. 🙁

Errrr! This old machine doesn’t have a PCB :con:
Why not try advancing the timer to the end of the cycle or at least wait ’til is advances thru the dry cycle and turns off???

In my best pantomine voice, “Oh yes it does” 🙂 Controls are along the top edge of the door, Mains On/Off and four programme selector buttons, no timer. had a look on the Bosch website yesterday and the internals are the same as the Hotpoint 6820 (circa 1988) not sure how old this machine is but it doesn’t look that old.

Oh no it doesnt. Mechanical timer and selector pcb only none electronic.
Totally dead light on? Possible inlet solenoid in aquastop unit failed or broken wires in door loom.You can measure solenoid resistance. In base you will see a 2 core cable coming from rear in centre. 1 wire goes to float microswitch other to drain pump. Usual readings. Loom breaks usually around lower door on pivot of door and chassis; unwrap plastic wadding and look carefully.

Made 1996.
Haven’t seen one of these for a while now. But if memory serves if the base floods on these old ones the pump doesn’t run constantly (like the newer ones) but stops timer motor running.
Also have had faulty anti flood s/w in the past cause similar problem.

Thanks for replies, couldn’t see a timer at the time 🙂 but it was at the end of a particulary trying day. Wiring harness at door hinge looks perfect, base bone dry.As the only thing that has been done to this machine is replumbing and a new decor panel I think I need to check out the aquastop in more detail, would a failure of this lead to a completely dead (except for neon) machine?
I assume the pcb that I could see was similar to the 6 or 7 gang bank of switches used in another full size Bosch produced Hotpoint from around the same time.
