My Zanussi FL1032 is not heating on the 40, 50 and 60 degree programmes but it’s fine on 90. I’m inclined to think that this means the thermostat is faulty as the heater is working okay on the 90 programme. Although it’s hot fill the electricity meter spins faster on the 90 programme and you can hear the relay click to turn on the heater.

For the past couple of years, the 40 degree programme didn’t heat but the 50 and 60 did, so we just put up with it. But now the higher cold-fill programmes are not working it would be good to fix the thermostat.

Here’s where I need some advice. At the bottom of the drum there are two inserts, one coloured red and the other coloured (I think from memory) beige. Are these thermostats? Are there two of them? The red one has two or three wires connected, while the beige one has four or five, making me think this might be the thermostat for the (multiple) lower temperatures, while the other deals with 90 on its own. Or is this completely wrong?!

If these are thermostats, how do you get them out? They’re mounted in rubber grommets and you can turn them in their mount. But it’s not obvious how you get them out. Do they just pull out?

Any advice on this would be a great help. The machine is too old to be worth the expense of calling in an engineer rather than buying a new one. But I replaced the pump a couple of years ago, and everything else sounds nice and smooth so it seems a pity just to throw it away.

    Yes they are 🙂

I recommend you replace both and they are as follows: Red Stat = 1242345708 (50/90deg stat) Grey Stat = 1240345809 (39/60deg stat).

Both can be ordered via emailing spares@ukwhitegoods.co.uk.

To fit them, they lever gently out from those rubber grommets. Refitting requires using a smear of rubber sealant whilst pushing them into the grommet (bit tricky but there you go)

    Hope that helps?
