ParticipantOur AEG 4040 was pumping out continuously after last night’s cycle.
I took the sides off. There was water in the three little reservoirs in the bottom tray on the left, underneath the plastic water inlet thingy, and water in the main part of the tray (which had tripped the float switch).
I got rid of the water and watched it very carefully throughout a part cycle and couldn’t see any leaks (though found some places where manufacturing was at fault – the main pump was resting on the tray rather than being supported on the rubber mounts).
After leaving it for a couple of hours there was some water collected in the reservoirs (two were full), having come down through the black rubber hose from the water inlet thingy.
Diagnosis? Does it need another plastic water inlet thingy?

It sounds like the water matrix on the left hand side of the machine is blocked and water is backing up and dribbling into the tray. By a torturous series of parts supercessions the part number is 1118139-00/3. I would suggest removing the left hand side panel to observe properly.
An email to spares@ukwhitegoods.co.uk for pricing and ordering will get things moving for you.

Thanks.
Water matrix – that sounds like a much better name for “water inlet thingy”. Yes, I had removed the left-hand side panel to observe it.
There are a couple of places in the matrix where mouldy things have grown – perhaps they are causing the backing up. Anyway, I’ll see about a price.

Also the hose from matrix to sump can get blocked causing overfill in matrix and overflow into sump.
good idea to unplug it first ❗November 20, 2005 at 11:26 pm #154877Penguin45

Not on this one. That’s the standard old Bosch dishwasher fault.
