The ignition button has become very tempremental (works about 1/2 the time) on our Leisure Classic 55 gas cooker (I’m guessing it’s 8 years old), and we’re having to light using matches (very primitive, however did we used to manage!!). The oven, grill and rings are all affected.

Presumably it’s the ignition unit (which according to the manual is mains powered, so not simply a battery that’s died?)?

I’m moderately competent at electrics (but obviously not CORGI registered). Is it a DIY job simply to replace the unit? And is the unit available?

thanks for any help (my first post!!)

It could be the switch, the generator or the wiring causing this, all are still available as spares.

Please ask an engineer to call and check it for you, it won’t be a costly repair – Repairs@ should help with one 🙂

    Dave.

    Thanks Dave.

I tried reapirs@ (which looks like great idea) but there is no engineer listed for my area (Ealing, West London).

So I guess it’s the Yellow Pages, or doing a bit of basic detective work myself (e.g. testing whether the switch is working) with the trusty multimeter…..
