You must give credit to Reckitt Benckiser and their fine sales marketing techniques on how to sell a product worldwide. They after all have been at it for years, and their household named products sell almost as quick as the shelf stackers can cope with the demand. Super dooper ads on the telly too are part of the game…… “Finish Powerball 4 in one Tablets!” is a belter and who cannot fail to miss the famous “Barry Scott here to tell you about the wonder of Cillitt Bang!”

Now for those of you that may know a thing or two about DISHWASHERS? Then do check the link below and you will realise the total pack of untruths, understatements, overstatements and typical high gloss clapptrap that is supposed to help the consumer with the everyday use of a simple domestic dishwasher.

Finish for example do sell salt, but they make little or no reference to it within their help categories. Simply because they want to sell their wonder detergent above all else. Is it any wonder the customer is confused about the use of Rinse Aid and Salt?

So then, what about washing your balls eh?…..read on…….

Some of it is reasonably good information to be fair Martin. But you’re spot on in that Reckitt are brilliant at marketing the Finish range, as well as Vanish.

However, if you actually delve into the range of products that they do you’ll find, just as customers do, that it is extremely confusing indeed to say the least. Almost as confusing as laundry detergents, sometimes more so. Note all the “add-on” products. 🙄

We see, almost on a daily basis, problems created by poor quality dishwasher detergents or the customer’s misuse of them and, to be honest, we don’t that much abut them (engineers that is) either. Just today I had to ask what the H this glass protection nonsense was all about as nobody’s ever bothered to tell us.

We’ve discovered huge problems with the 3-in-1 as well as 4 and 5-in-1 stuff and certain brands (Haier and others) where the products don’t work correctly or are used incorrectly and it leads to service calls, which often in the past have just been a mystery. And as for the new “Quantum” product that Finish have just released, well let’s just say I wouldn’t recommend it as it can only be used on a >=65oC wash or it’s pretty useless. It does tell you that on the packet, but not clearly and since customers struggle to read any instruction guess what’s going to happen.

But from all the above that I’ve written as well as the knowledge that we know a lot of people are scared of dishwashers you may surmise that we might be planning something with this.

    You’d be right… 😉

    K.
