ParticipantIt’s bad enough on your own wrestling with a tumble dryer on top of the washing machine. But these modern fitted kitchen bods are taking the liberty just one stage further with DISHWASHER on top of FRIDGES 🙁
Many have moaned about “2 engineer calls” and stuff just to repair things like dryers and double ovens, but this is really taking the proverbial 😥

This was discussed here a while back Martin.
The general rule of thumb is that, if the appliance is mounted above floor level then tough as just like a double oven you require special stands or a table to put it onto to save breaching H&S. Unless you happen to have a helper of course.
But with a dishwasher it will almost undoubtedly be far worse as the idiot fitter won’t have left enough slack on the services to get it out no doubt, so a ten minute removal job becomes a half hour and the same to re-install and that’s if it goes back okay.
So far when we’ve encountered them we’ve refused to do it, closed and billed the call as an incorrect installation. Thankfully any of the manufacturers that we deal with have backed us 100{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} on that stance.

A local dealer to me has started installing fully integrated dishwashers about 2-3 feet above floor level 😈
He is offering this to people who don’t want to bend down to unload the dishwasher 🙄 . Cos it’s so hard unloading a dishwasher at floor level aint it.

If the customer can afford the extra to install it thus, in fact if they can afford a fitted kitchen then they can afford a 2 man call out. Maybe I’ll start asking about accessibility in future when I’m booking in. Save getting there prepared for a 15 min brushes job only to find I’ve got to spend ages shifting furniture about. 😉

The mind still boggles as to how you can do this work using a pushbike, although that’s all my uncle had when he first started as a gas fitter. When the timing belt went on my van I was using a motorbike to go to some jobs but I could not have coped for long like that. I suppose it’s mainly down to being well organised and having a shrewd idea of what to take. 🙄

Mike.Probably one of these required. http://tinyurl.com/e459l scroll down about halfway, too late as this one is already sold 😆 .
On a more serious note I have just sold a seperate washer and tumble dryer with a stack kit. The reason being that customer did not want a washer dryer for all the normal reasons, no under counter space for two machines but height for two.
Sorry guys.

Hey! The “view more emoticons” button is finally working even for me! Now I’m really beginning to feel like I’m catching up.

No way! My bike cost a fiver on the local boot sale. Have been thinking for a long time about getting a new one but what would be the point? I’d have to lock it up every time I left it.
