The anti flood system on the dishwasher has kicked in – I don’t know why. We’ve tried disconnecting the fill hose, turning off the water and electricity and then reconnecting it all again. We’ve cleaned out the filters. We’ve had the machine for about 4 years – is it going to be expensive to fix or should we give up and buy another? Many thanks.

The machine has leaked into the undertray. Whilst draining the undertray will re-activate the machine, you need to find the leak.
As a good quality appliance, it would definitelty be worth having this investigated. Check the link in my signature for a repairer.
Power off if investigating further.
