We have a 13 month old WD640 which has started to display the word test. This morning we tried to wash on program H. After switching on the machine it immediately displayed “test” and lit up all the wash progress lights.
Have tried switching the machine off, removing the mains plug and trying again. The problem occurs whatever program is selected.
Has anyone got any ideas how to resolve this, before we have to call an engineer?
    Thanks!

Use the search facility for this forum and all will be revealed, in the meantime I will try and find it for you.

Edit. here is one of many.

Press and hold the On/Off & Start buttons for a couple of seconds. Until D Off appears in display.

for some reason best known to themselves Hotpoint/Indesit forgot to put this information in the user manual, not sure if it has been added to later editions.

Thank you very much to Super User for this reply. Your solution has done the trick and saved us no end hassle (no doubt!) As you say, there is no mention of this in our User sheet. We bought this machine when the model was very new and had other software problems (faulty program cycle) which the engineer had to call Head Office about as he was unsure how to solve the problem. He had to replace to replace the motherboard and and re-install the software. It worked ok after that until this little “blip”.

As its Sunday you can call me James, the rest of the time Jim will suffice. 🙂

    Glad to have helped.
