Hello – first post – any help apprecaited! 😀

My slimline hotpoint dishwasher died last night. Started the cycle but nothing happened at all so tried turning the knob to re-start – still nothing. Then opened the door and it started to make some noises but then stopped when I closed the door again!

Eventually got it going and all seemed well until halfway through the wash cycle when a burning smell started and acrid smoke started coming out from the handle area 😯 😯 . Good job I was there to switch it off.

Anyway it’s still full of water and won’t do anything now. What is it likely to be and will it be worth repairing bearing in mind it’s 13 years old 😡 .

    Cheers

Sounds like the doorswitch has gone in style. P/no 1800551 is the p/no – an email to spares@ukwhitegoods.co.uk for pricing and ordering. Power off if removing the door outer to check – beware of the door edges as you can shave with them.

If you’re not sure, check the link in my signature for a UKW engineer.

Many thanks – you were spot on about the doorswitch!

Ordered one over the phone from here, and replaced it last night – nice simple job too.

    Your advice was much appreciated!
