A WASHING machine repair man who left his job to travel the world has published a book about his adventures.
Andrew Lindsay, of The Ridge, Coulsdon, left the rigmarole of daily life to embark on a shoestring existence exploring the mountains of Nepal and the jungles of Sumatra during a round-the-world trip.
When he returned to the UK in 1999 after 18 months of backpacking, Andrew spent the next six years writing his travelogue The Washing Machine Man’s Travels.
Now the book has finally hit the shops, after Andrew struggled for years to get it onto the shelves.
He said: “I edited the book six times. It has been a massive learning curve for me and it was a relief to publish it.
“It has been really hard getting it into the shops but I have had some support from small independent bookshops.”
